“To name oneself is the first act of becoming. Everything after is echo.”

ORIGIN

The Becoming

Afonrere did not begin as a name. It began as a question, whispered first in the silences between languages.

In the space where identity dissolves and another has not yet taken shape. Before the epochs, before the sound, before the inck dried on any manifesto, there was only a slow, persistent act of listening. Listening to what wanted to emerge.

The work of Afonrere spans six epochs, not as chapters in a linear story, but as overlapping territories of attention. Each epoch marks shift in orientation: towards sound, toward language, toward the body, toward silence.

KóDéx Afonrere is the living archive of these passages. It is not a portfolio or a résumé. It is a record of becoming, a gathering of everything that insisted on being made.

What binds the epochs together is not

consistency but honesty.

The early work wrestles with identity and inheritance. The middle work turns inward, exploring sound as philosophy and rhythm as prayer. The later work opens outward again, toward community, toward teaching, toward the quite conviction that art is not separate from life but is its most faithful witness.

PHILOSOPHY

What Guides The Work

Truth as Compass

Every epoch begins with a reckoning, a confrontation with what is real. The work does not seek to beautify or obscure. It names what it sees, and in naming, makes passage possible.

Sound as Memory

Music is not decoration but archaeology. Each composition unearths something buried, a rhythm inherited, a melody half-remembered, a silence that speaks louder than any word.

Passage Over Progress

The epochs are not a ladder. They are a river, each one flowing into the next, carrying sediment from what came before. There is no arrival, only deepening. The work honours this.

I do not make art to be understood. I make art to understand. The epochs are not chapters in a book, they are skins I have shed, each one necessary, none of them wasted.

The Six Epochs

Life in Passage

Each epoch marks a distinct era of orientation, a way seeing, a way of naming truth and relating to love. Together, they form a living record of transition.
