KóDéx Afonrere is the six-epoch map of Afonrere’s becoming, each a distinct way of seeing, naming truth, and relating to love; not phases or genres, but aligned passages shaped by their own questions, tensions, and revelations.

I was a church boy and a primary school drummer, always close to music and art. I had been thinking, writing, and creating for as long as I can remember.

2018 — 2020
This was when I started asking real questions about the faith I grew up in. I found myself reflecting on my Christian profession while giving deeper thought to my traditional roots.

2021 — 2022
This was a period of being in between, not who I was and not yet who I was becoming. I pulled things apart and slowly began to find myself again through Yoruba thought.

This was a turning point marked by healing, discipline, and initiation. Yoruba thought became something I lived, not just something I explored.

The quintessential church boy, primary school drummer boy and the
encounter that triggered it all. As long as I remember, I have always thought,
always written and yes, always loved music and the arts.

Inquiring while creating, I was a church boy long before 2018, but this was when I began to wrestle with questions on faith.
